Job Description:
Reporting to the Port Manager while on assigned projects, directs, and coordinates production efforts through assigned supervisory personnel and subcontractors. With the guidance of the Port Manager, helps establish aggressive production schedules and budgets, and ensures that plans, goals, and requirements are being met. Achieves goals by collaborating with team members to establish plans for successful execution of work. The Superintendent position is a key leadership position, and the expectation is that a Superintendent can manage projects from start to finish.

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinates with support personnel to ensure that material, tooling, information, manpower, and equipment is available to support schedule and project requirements.
• Coordinates with supervision and subcontractors to obtain optimum production, by establishing priorities and coordinating efforts between trades.
• Ensures that no additional work is performed outside of what is designated in contract specifications, and effectively interprets specification ambiguities.
• Recognizes and addresses change work and helps articulate appropriate arguments for condition reports.
• Consults with trade supervision and customers to assess technical conflicts and provides recommendations for resolution.
• Promotes a strong culture of Safety in their engagement with Production teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have experience working three to five years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred candidate having been a seagoing Marine Engineer or a Senior outside machinist working with pumps, motors, and other rotating equipment in the aforementioned industries.

• A Knowledge of Welding practices is preferred.
• A good understanding and Rigging experience preferred.
• Experience working aboard ships is preferred or Refinery/ Heavy industrial plant with pumps, Heat Exchangers, winches, and cranes.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to work with minimal direction.
• Possess good fault-finding capabilities with the ability to put together a repair plan to present to customers.
• Possess excellent Team leader qualities with the ability to give clear concise directions to the team.
• Ability to read blueprint drawings and technical manuals and be able to identify parts needed.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Possess good mathematical background to enable calculation of distances, clearances, weight distribution and force calculations
• Must have Microsoft Office Software experience and be able to write reports and procedures.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to gain access to work locations, including ports of call to obtain TWIC (Transport Workers Identification Card) with a clear background check.
• Must have a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be physically able to climb ladders and gangways, walk distances on docks and steel decks, crawl in tanks and confined spaces and be able to work at heights.

Job description:

Outside Machinist Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the overhaul, alignment, and adjustment of machinery equipment in place onboard ship; cut, shape, and drill various materials; assemble and disassemble mechanical parts according to technical manuals; clean and preserve parts; perform related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be:

• Boards various vessels to accomplish work.
• Deciphers sketches, blueprints, and engineering details
• Provides assistance in establishing set up and layout methods, order of operations, and application of required parts and materials
• Carries a job through from raw materials to the finished products from drawings, sketches, samples or verbal instruction.
• Maintains accurate production records and job history
• Keeps a clean and orderly work area
• Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.
• Some local travel may be required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Working knowledge of ship layout
• Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be able to access and move around ship safely
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in required
• The ability to obtain a TWIC credential is required
• Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment
• May be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Frequently moves throughout the shipyard
• Works at heights and in confined spaces
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs/ladders/ramps, aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces
• Must be able to move heavy equipment and boxes, weighing up to 50 pounds
• May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams

Job description:

Level of Experience: Able to obtain ABS 6G qualifications.
Reports to: Superintendent/Supervisor

Summary/Objective: Pipe Welders join pipes, valves, and fitting components as specified by layout, prints, diagrams, work orders, or verbal instructions, using hand and powered hand tools, and welding equipment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Successful completion pipe welding qualification requirements using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Fluxed Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) in the restricted 6G position on ferrous and nonferrous materials.
• Setup and adjust various welding equipment and associated accessories.
• Ability to interpret welding symbols-based on the AWS Welding Symbols.
• Familiarity with the workmanship requirements.
• Ability to pipe fit
• Ability to structurally fit

Education / Experience Required:

• Must be 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completed a structured welding program or have a relevant amount of experience.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license.

Preferred:

• A plus, previous experience in a ship repair environment.
• Understand the Ship Repair requirements and working environment.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0800 – 1630 (or as otherwise assigned by a Superintendent/Supervisor) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.

Work Environment: This job operates in a shipyard work environment.
Travel: This position does require ability to travel.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.
