Job description:
Level of Experience: Able to obtain ABS 6G qualifications.
Reports to: Superintendent/Supervisor
Summary/Objective: Pipe Welders join pipes, valves, and fitting components as specified by layout, prints, diagrams, work orders, or verbal instructions, using hand and powered hand tools, and welding equipment.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Successful completion pipe welding qualification requirements using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Fluxed Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) in the restricted 6G position on ferrous and nonferrous materials.
- Setup and adjust various welding equipment and associated accessories.
- Ability to interpret welding symbols-based on the AWS Welding Symbols.
- Familiarity with the workmanship requirements.
- Ability to pipe fit
- Ability to structurally fit

Education / Experience Required:
- Must be 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed a structured welding program or have a relevant amount of experience.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license.
- Must possess basic skills (reading, writing and mathematical skills).
Preferred:
- A plus, previous experience in a ship repair environment.
- Understand the Ship Repair requirements and working environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0800 – 1630 (or as otherwise assigned by a Superintendent/Supervisor) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.
Work Environment: This job operates in a shipyard work environment.
Travel: This position does require ability to travel.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.

- Eligibility to work in the US.
- Obtaining TWIC level security clearance.
- OSHA 10 Maritime
